The RESOLAB workshops on veterinary diagnostic laboratories quality assurance system began in 2009 following a situational analysis which showed that "only 10% and 40% of laboratories members respectively have Quality manual and comprehensive internal quality control procedures. It was on this basis that the RESOLAB conducted in 2009, thanks to your support, three workshops on ISO 17025 standard as recommended by OIE for testing labs. The first workshop of the current year is intended for field or lab technicians involved in autopsy, sampling and samples processing. It is responding to concerns voiced by the heads of laboratories at the Annual Workshop Network held in December 2009 in Bamako.
Workshop Purpose
Contribute to the development or improvement of the quality system in laboratories of the national veterinary RESOLAB
Workshop Modules and specific objectives
Module 1 : Basic Laboratory and necropsy good practices to train laboratory technician in basic autopsy and sampling and storing techniques and procedures of diagnostic samples.
Module 2 : Shipping Avian influenza Samples to train personnel responsible for preparing and packaging infectious substances to be able to comply with International Air Transport Association (IATA) regulations.
Module 3 : Basic Laboratory Biosafety and biosecurity to train personnel in basic biosafety and laboratory biosecurity.
Participants
Two participants / countries from each of the following country: Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Gambia, Guinea Bissau, Liberia, Sao Tome and Principe, Sierra Leone and Togo, and with the following profiles:
1. Field veterinary technicians in charge of field épidémiosurveillance including clinical surveillance, necropsy, sample collection and forwarding.
2. Laboratory Technicians in charge of autopsy, samples collection and dispatching.
