Purpose
Contribute to the sustainable development of the livestock sector through reduction of the negative impacts of animal diseases such as avian influenza on the entire livestock sectors, the economies and livelihoods of communities, particularly the poorest ones, not only in the infected countries but also in the countries which are free of disease.
Goals
To trigger and strengthen exchange of information, experiences and ideas among poultry sector stakeholders
To promote and enhance the consultation processes among these stakeholders in relation to themes such as:
- biodiversity preservation
- biosecurity improvement
- improvement of health status of domestic animals
- socio-economic impact of bird flu, in terms of poultry products prices and quantities, of household income, etc.
- costs of prevention and control measures
- design of pertinent and cost-effective animal health policies
- implementation of suitable animal health strategies

family poultry sector stakeholders
Expected results
Public and private sector stakeholders will acquire and/or improve their knowledge and understanding of: the poultry sector structure and functioning, biosecurity, biodiversity, socio-economic impact and costs associated with avian flu prevention and control so that they will be able to improve and/or adapt their respective actions/behaviours for the sustainable development of the poultry sector
Sector stakeholders will come to know each other better, which will facilitate their collaboration and dialogue around joint actions for the improved efficiency of interventions and the sustainable development of the poultry sector
