Answer our questions on animal health and contribute in so doing to improving knowledge on animal sectors in West and Central Africa !

The livestock sector plays an important role in our countries both in economic terms and in terms of food security, particularly as far as the poorest groups are concerned. The definition and implementation of sector based policies and programs for the sustainable development of livestock are often blocked for lack of data and qualitative and quantitative information on animal sectors. The private actors are also often confronted with this lack of data and information. On the other hand, where the latter exist, they are often unreliable, obsolete and difficult to access as countries are investing little human and financial resources for their collection, processing, dissemination and updating.

In the animal health sector, a better knowledge of the sectors and the impact of diseases will help better target activities of disease prevention and control and, as a result, help improve the health condition of the herd and its productivity. In the case of zoonoses , this will help also protect human health.

It is because we want all actors involved to better know about animal sectors and animal health issues that we propose to share your knowledge through the RESECOP by answering our questionnaires on line.

This methodology rests on a voluntary basis and helps collect original information coming directly from the actors of the animal sectors. The information that you transmit will be disseminated on the RESECOP web site in the form of factsheets per country, data tables, thematic cards, per theme addressed, etc.
